CRAFTS FAIR TO FEATURE LANDSCAPE ARTS FOR SPRING SHOW

timberframe

Landscape arts, timber framing, & outdoor Red Cedar structures will be the highlighted feature at the 20th anniversary WOODSTOCK-NEW PALTZ ART & CRAFTS FAIR spring show, Memorial Day Weekend, at the Ulster County fairgrounds.

The Landscape Arts feature of the show first started in 1997. It consisted of several exhibitors creating metal garden sculpture, bluestone walls, and garden implements.

This years show will devote a separate tent to this feature, says Scott Rubinstein,  who along with his brother Neil, are co-directors of the show. Artists will display masonry and metal sculpture, copper and ceramic fountains, stone wall constructions and iron forge work.

We will also have two of the Northeast's finest builders of timber frame and outdoor cedar structures. Charles Blumstein and his crew of Olivebridge NY, will be erecting an entire timber frame building at the show along with hands on demonstrations for visitors. He will also conduct a small workshop on the premises using many of his authentic colonial tools.

Also exhibiting will be Marvin Davis of  "Romancing the Woods" handcrafted cedar structures. Romancing the Woods of Saugerties NY, creates gazebos, benches, trellises, bridges, fences, and summer houses from Northeast Red Cedar.

Marvin Davis has virtually created this art form from a material largely known in the past for lining closets and  keeping hamsters company.

The style is a combination of 19th century English and French garden, and classic Adirondack design. The work has been shown around the globe from Disney World to Mohonk Mountain Preserve.  He will have several structures displayed at the show.
